The individual annual growth rings have been created using stitch lines which adds an interested texture too.

The play mat is reversible; which offers open ended play situations and encourages imagination. One side is stitched with the lines to represent a log slice and great for all kinds of Tree and Woodland themes, studying Bugs and those who live inside a trees structure, Autumn play etc.  The reverse is Dark Green...giving lots of possibilities for different scenes including discovering the Grasslands, Woodlands, Fairies, Farms, Dinosaurs etc.
